Minutes of the July 2015 Supervisors' Meeting

Francis Fruehan called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and called for a salute to the Flag.

Minutes from the June Meeting were read and approved with amendments on a motion made by Butch DeLousia and seconded by Evan Everitt, approved

The Treasurer Report was read, approved and held for audit on a motion made by Butch DeLousia and seconded by Evan Everitt, approved.  John Demaree questioned a check written to Peoples Security Bank.  It was explained that was a principal only mortgage payment.  Mr. Demaree asked if the Supervisors tried to negotiate a lower interest rate.  Evan Everitt said the rate had been reduced a few years ago.  Francis Fruehan explained that the bulk payment is in the budget and it should be paid before too long.          

No Act 14 Notice received in June for gas pads or access driveways.

There were no Public Comments.  A resident asked if the Supervisors were aware the MacGeorge site had been shut down.  Francis Fruehan said no information has been received.

Evan Everitt would like to put a non-functioning 5-ton military dump truck out to bid on Auctions International.  Francis Fruehan made a motion to advertise the truck on Auctions International, Evan Everitt seconded, approved.  Evan Everitt would also like to put tires on Auctions International, Francis Fruehan seconded, approved.

Evan Everitt would like to re-advertise for road materials to give any additional vendors the opportunity to bid.  All bids for roads materials have been accepted and the new advertisement will not change that.  A new vendor is in a convenient location and he would like to re-advertise to give the vendor the opportunity to submit a bid.  Materials that will be advertised will be:  #8, #57, 2A and DSA.  Francis Fruehan made a motion to re-advertise for road materials to allow for the new vendor the opportunity to bid,  all prior bids received will remain in affect, Evan Everitt seconded, approved.

Evan Everitt gave the road report.  The Dirt/Gravel Road Project awarded for Quinn Road will begin in the middle of July.  The project total is $76,253.  With the township’s in-kind contribution the total cost of the project will be approximately $91,686.  As the township is doing all the work the prevailing wage rates will not apply to the project.

Francis Fruehan made a motion to sign the contract for the project for Quinn Road, Butch DeLousia seconded, approved.  Maintenance on township roads is about at the mid-way point and then the tar/chip projects will be done.

Evan Everitt would like to purchase a plasma cutter for the shop.  The cutter he is looking to purchase is approximately $2,600 and will cut up to ¾” steel.  This cutter would help with maintenance in the shop.  Francis Fruehan made a motion to authorize Evan Everitt to purchase a plasma cutter for approximately $2,600, Butch DeLousia seconded, approved.

Francis Fruehan read the Police Report with 13 incidents for the month of June.  Report will be posted on the bulletin board immediately following the meeting.  The full report is also posted in the local newspapers.

Assessment Permits – Michael and Jackie Adams for a cabin on Arrowhead Lake Road.

Driveway Permits – None

Evan Everitt made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Butch DeLousia seconded, approved.

As no further business was presented, Francis Fruehan made a motion to adjourn the meeting Butch DeLousia seconded, approved.
